On September 25, 2006, the New Orleans Saints played a game in the Louisiana Superdome for the first time since Hurricane Katrina ravaged the City of New Orleans 21 months earlier. In that emotional game Steve Gleason cemented himself in Saints lore when he blocked a punt in the first quarter. The ball was recovered in the end zone for the Saints first td of the game. In 2012 a statue of Gleason making that play was erected outside of the Superdome.
