After 25 years in their familiar blue, gold and white, the Buffalo Sabres decided that the 1995-96 season would be the last in the franchise's original colors. If that wasn't special enough, the team honored its first-ever goaltender, Roger Crozier, that same season. Crozier wore # 1 for the Sabres from 1970-76. He passed away on January 11, 1996, and the team paid tribute to him by wearing a #1 patch for the remainder of the season. Buffalo's goaltender for the 1995-96 season was another Sabres legend, Dominik Hasek. Hasek spent 9 seasons in Buffalo. In his time there, "The Dominator" won six Vezina Trophies as the league's top goaltender and two Hart Trophies as the NHL's MVP.
