The Denver Broncos drafted Terrell Davis in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL draft. Initially entering training camp as the team's sixth-string running back, he quickly impressed coaches with his special teams play and moved up on the depth chart. He earned the lead role by the season opener and went on to start 14 games. During his rookie season, Davis rushed for 1,117 yards on 237 carries, averaging 4.7 yards per carry and scored seven rushing touchdowns. He also contributed to the passing game with 49 receptions for 367 yards and one receiving touchdown.
