Brooklyn Dodgers 1945 Road lightweight wool flannel blend jersey #04

In 1945, baseball remained an American constant despite their heavy involvement on both fronts of World War II. During the 1945 season, players wore a stars and stripes patch on their jersey to support America's efforts in the war. The All Star Game, which first began in 1933 to help rejuvenate an economically depressed society, was cancelled due to wartime travel restrictions. The Brooklyn Dodgers finished the 1945 season in third place, but made a very important move that year when they signed an African American baseball player named Jack Roosevelt Robinson.
