Quick Overview

New York Yankees 1952 Road light weight wool flannel blend jersey # 07

In 1903 two entrepreneurs from New York City bought the bankrupt Baltimore Orioles, and moved the team to New York's Hill Top Park, the highest point in Manhattan, and renamed them the Highlanders. In 1913 the Highlanders adopted the Yankee nickname, given to them by the New York sports writers. The 1952 season marked the 50th Anniversary of the Yankees move to New York. In honor of their Golden Anniversary the Yankees wore a patch on the left sleeve of their uniform. Mickey Mantle filled the vacated hole in centerfield as he batted .311 while hitting 23 of his career total 536 homeruns. The Yankees continued their dominance of the American League and baseball as they won the pennant and World Series for the fourth year in a row.
