In 1950, Robin Roberts led the "Whiz Kids," of Philadelphia to their first National League pennant in 35 years. A hard thrower known for his control over the plate, Roberts finished his career with a 3.41 ERA, 45 shutouts, and 2,357 strikeouts.
Roberts was the Phillies Ace for 14 years, never walking more than 77 batters in a regular season. He pitched 28 complete games in a row and led the league six times in games started and five in complete games and innings pitched.
