Prior to the start of the 1970-71 season, the Milwaukee Bucks acquired Oscar Robertson, the pride of Cincinnati basketball. Robertson proved to be the missing piece of the Bucks game and helped lead them to the 1971 NBA title. During the 1971-72 season, the Bucks remained a formidable force with the league but their quest to repeat was denied by the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
