Description
In 1961, the Washington Senators joined the American League after the newly named Minnesota Twins franchise vacated the D.C. area. During their time in the Capital the expansion Senators struggled to post a winning record. The expansion Senators' lack of success caused them to move to Texas and become the Rangers in 1972, once again leaving the city of Washington, D.C. without a baseball team to root for. In 2005, baseball returned to our Nation's Capital as the Montreal Expos were relocated and renamed the Nationals.
