The 1961-1971 pennant is a symbol of the 10-year slump the Senators experienced, coming in last place almost every year. In 1971, they were sold to Dallas Fort Worth. Baseball would not return to Washington D.C. until 2005 with the acquisition of the Montreal Expos becoming the Washington Nationals.
