Known for his brush back pitches, Gibson's competitive spirit, dignity and determination on the mound made him a force to be reckoned with to anyone who stepped up to bat. His record for World Series strikeouts in 1968, still stands today.
Gibson was known as a premiere post season pitcher with records of seven consecutive wins and 17 strikeouts in a game, and was named World Series MVP in 1964 and 1967. The ex-Harlem Globetrotter posted a 1.12 ERA in 1968 and was named the National League Cy Young Award winner.
