Description

In connection with America’s Bicentennial, the Philadelphia Phillies wore a patch depicting the likeness of the Liberty Bell on the left sleeve of their jersey. Philadelphia, the Bell’s home, hosted the All Star Game with the National League prevailing 7-1. On the right sleeve of their jersey the Phillies commemorated the centennial of the National League. Mike Schmidt helped power the Phillies to the National League Championship Series by leading the league with 38 home runs. On April 17, 1976, while playing the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Mike Schmidt tallied four home runs in a nine inning slugfest.
