In 1979, at the age of 18, Wayne Gretzky entered the NHL with the expansion of the WHL's Edmonton Oilers. Gretzky kicked off his NHL career by winning the first of eight consecutive Hart Memorial Trophies. During the 1983-1984 season, Gretzky led the young Oilers to their first Stanley Cup title. The Oilers would continue success throughout the 1980's by winning a total of four championships. During the 1986-1987 Stanley Cup Finals the Oilers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in seven games.
