The 1969 Braves finished 1st in the National League West. They lost in the National League Championship to the eventual World Series Champion New York Mets. 1969 was an All Star season for Phil Niekro who finished second in NL with 23 wins. 1969 was the 100th Anniversary of professional baseball and all teams celebrated by wearing a commemorative patch on their sleeve.
